The primary focus of the exhibit will cover the period of “Sputnik” (late 1950s) through the first moon landing of Apollo 11 in 1969. Each step of the space programs Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, will be featured, as well as the “milestone” flights of astronauts Alan Shepard, John Glenn, and Ed White. To the Moon will feature eye-catching, visually attractive state-of-the-art elements to match the ambitious scope of the subject. The LBJ Library’s space exhibit will coincide with a space exhibit featuring Skylab, the Shuttle Missions, and the International Space Station at the George H. W. Bush Library at Texas A&M University at College Station.

Elmo has raised his sunflower, Sunny, from a seed, but his floral friend has outgrown the flower pot. Elmo and friends find Big Bird’s garden the ideal place for Sunny to flourish and grow but they are too excited to wait. Rather than let Sunny follow nature’s course, Abby Cadabby, Sesame Street’s fairy-in-training, casts a spell to make Sunny grow. The spell does just the opposite and, instead of growing, Elmo and all of his friends shrink! While Abby searches for just the right words to reverse the spell, Elmo, Zoe,Telly and friends explore Big Bird’s garden from a smaller perspective and learn some big lessons about patience, overcoming their fears and appreciating the role that each creature plays in our ecosystem – from dancing ladybugs and beautiful butterflies to grouchy beetles that scavenge the garden floor. In celebration of Black History Month, the Austin Public Library and Literature Live are proud to present this shadow puppet show. Anansi is a mischievous, trickster character from Africa. One day, as he is walking through the cool, cool jungle, he finds something that helps him play a trick on all the animals in the jungle. Now, will Anansi get away with this, or will someone come along who will teach him a well needed lesson? Come enjoy this shadow show rendition of this humorous African Folktale. Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock is free and open to the public.
